Swap, save, and sustain.
Intro
The Sneakerswap app by Ebay is a vision to transform the sneaker exchange landscape. Our goal was to tackle the hurdles sneaker fans face—securing genuine and affordably priced sneakers, while also shifting sneaker culture towards a more sustainable model
Problem
Most sought after sneakers retail between $120-$300. But in the resale market, they fetch far higher, sometimes double or triple their original price. Popular resale platforms drive up the prices, putting sneakers out of reach for many enthusiast.
Response
Together with Abigail Bangura, we created Sneakerswap, merging market insights and technological innovations to present sneaker enthusiasts with a platform for authentic, affordable, and sustainable exchanges.
Process
Concept Statement
The initiative is to revolutionize how Gen-Z sneaker enthusiasts engage with footwear through eBay's innovative trading app. By focusing on the principles of 'save, swap, and sustain,' SneakerSwap is designed to honor the culture and passion for sneakers, allowing users to trade and treasure their collections responsibly and creatively.
Objective
Our mission is to redefine eBay as a marketplace and a community hub for sneaker fans. The app aims to facilitate a sustainable cycle of sneaker ownership by encouraging trade and exchange over traditional buying. We envision a space where the thrill of acquisition is matched by the joy and practicality of trade, thereby supporting a more sustainable and engaged sneaker community.
Opportunity
This project taps into the pulse of the Gen-Z demographic, offering a unique opportunity to blend their love for sneakers with their values of sustainability and community. By providing a platform where stories are as important as the shoes themselves, eBay becomes a steward of sneaker culture, fostering a new movement in fashion consumerism that values sustainability and wise consumption as much as style.
